Company
Paprec Group initially specialized in paper recycling and extended its services in 1995 to diversify the company’s product offering. Now they provide a range of comprehensive services for the recycling industry.
Challenge
Paprec needed a solution to optimize the fleet management of waste collection for recycling.
Solution
500 trucks equipped with Baracoda RoadRunners Barcode Readers partnered via Bluetooth to the Dreevo embedded touch screen terminals. The Dreevo terminals contain a geographic localization application, assisted browsing, as well as Paprec’s own professional application. This application was developed for the management of dumpster collections and deposits from a remote office location.
Features
Each dumpster is identified with a barcode which is read by the driver with a Baracoda RoadRunners scanner. The barcode data is transmitted via Bluetooth to the embedded Dreevo in the driver’s cab. By detecting the arm activation, the Dreevo is able to indicate if the dumpster is deposited or collected. The GPS function is then used to geolocate precisely where the job was done.
Unique benefits:
- Paprec was able to build in their own pro application in the Dreevo using the Morpheus SDK
- The Dreevo range flexibility built in its Open Telematics Operating System enabled Mobile Devices to add Bluetooth connectivity specifically for the project
- Detailed reports were now generated in real-time by the Novacom platform which allowed for optimization of the driver´s operational time

Next Step: After proving the benefit of the first 500 equipped trucks, Paprec is considering extending the solution to its newly acquired fleet.
